Applying for Service

New Construction
If you have purchased or own property in Sun River Electric’s service area and are planning on doing any construction or building which will require electricity, please contact us at 1-800-452-7516, or 406-467-2527. Our Operations Manager or Staking Assistant will be glad to assist you with any information you may need.

New Owner of Property
To receive electric service you need to complete an application for membership. Prior to having an account transferred into your name please contact the office at 1-800-452-7516, or 406-467-2527. You will be required to do the following:

• Fill out the membership application

• Pay a deposit, (if required – a deposit is not necessary if you provide us with an excellent credit rating).

• Provide us with a meter reading and meter identification number.

If you move off the system, Sun River Electric needs a meter number, the meter reading, the date you are moving, and a forwarding address. You are responsible for the bill until you give us a final reading.

New Renter
If you are moving to the Sun River Electric service area and will be renting a home, you will need to do the following:

• Fill out an application for electric service for rental property

• Pay a deposit, (if required – a deposit is not necessary if you provide us with an excellent credit rating).

• Provide us with a meter reading and meter identification number.

Landlords
Please keep us informed when renters move in and out of your property. We will need a meter reading by which to transfer and a forwarding address for their final billing. We also need to keep our records current with your address and phone number in the event that we need to contact you. If a renter is going to be disconnected for non-pay, we make every attempt possible to contact the landlord before the service is actually disconnected.
